Development of a Potential Fe2O3-Based Photocatalyst Thin Film for Water Oxidation by Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy: Effects of Ag−Fe2O3 Nanocomposite and Sn Doping

چکیده
Ag-Fe2O3 and Sn-doped Ag-Fe2O3 nanocomposite photocatalysts were optimized by scanning photoelectrochemical microscopy (SPECM) as a potential photoelectrochemical material for visible light irradiation (λ g 420 nm). The photocurrent vs potential response and the action spectra were investigated in a three-electrode cell. Among different mole ratios, the composition of nanocomposite with 50%Ag-50%Fe (atomic percentage) showed a dramatic improvement in photocurrent on a thin film electrode under visible light (λg 420 nm). The addition of 2 atomic % Sn (relative to Fe) produced an Ag-Fe2O3 nanocomposite with the largest photocurrent in alkaline solution under visible light irradiation (λ g 420 nm).

متن کاملSurface Engineered Doping of Hematite Nanorod Arrays for Improved Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting
Given the narrow band gap enabling excellent optical absorption, increased charge carrier density and accelerated surface oxidation reaction kinetics become the key points for improved photoelectrochemical performances for water splitting over hematite (α-Fe2O3) photoanodes. In this study, a facile and inexpensive method was demonstrated to develop core/shell structured α-Fe2O3 nanorod arrays. ...
متن کاملTiO2 and Fe2O3 films for photoelectrochemical water splitting.
Titanium oxide (TiO2) and iron oxide (α-Fe2O3) hematite films have potential applications as photoanodes in electrochemical water splitting. In the present work TiO2 and α-Fe2O3 thin films were prepared by two methods, e.g., sol-gel and High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS) and judged on the basis of physical properties such as crystalline structure and surface topography and functio...

The synthesis of polyaniline- Fe2O3 nanocomposite coating on aluminum Alloy 5052 (AA5052) surface has been investigated by using the galvanostatic method. The anticorrosion performance of polyaniline-Fe2O3 coating was investigated in 3.5% NaCl solution by the open- circuit potential (OCP), Tafel polarization technique and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). The corrosion rate of polya...
متن کاملOnset potential behavior in α-Fe2O3 photoanodes: the influence of surface and diffusion Sn doping on the surface states.
The onset potential is an important parameter that affects the water oxidation performance of photoanodes. Herein, we investigated the behavior of the photocurrent onset potential of hematite (α-Fe2O3) photoanodes by incorporating Sn(4+) cations via external (surface overlayer) or self (underlying FTO substrate) doping. The α-Fe2O3/FTO photoanodes fabricated at both low (550 °C) and high (800 °...
